My favourite cultural event in London’s packed calendar is the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. I’ve been every year for the last decade or so and it’s always hugely inspiring; I’m now keenly looking forward to this year’s show.
While wildlife is possibly my favourite photographic category, it’s under represented in my own archives; the perils of living in London I suppose. The sense of escapism the WPotY exhibition provides is undoubtedly a big part of the attraction.
Even so, it’s the variety and beauty of life that really lingers, and for that reason I’m still fond of some of the animal portraits I’ve taken over the years – even if they’re rather more domestic than the wildlife I’ll be enjoying at the Natural History Museum next month.
